And They Danced by the Light of the Moon

Thanks to the fact that we all have been a bit under the weather here for about two weeks I am a bit behind on the posts I had planned. I have a couple half written and several projects I am working on but nothing ready to go for today so all I will bore you with another chalkboard. I want to put this on a long bolster and will probably switch it to "and dance by the light of the moon..." instead of what I have on the chalkboard. The chalkboard is from the childhood classic "The Owl and the Pussycat" and I think I would rather have it be from the song from the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" so I am going to switch it when I start playing around writing it so it will fit on a bolster. But for now this is what I have in our family room.

I got these pretty artichokes at Trader Joe's for 95 cents last week. I love how they look. I just wish they lasted a little longer...or that I actually liked to eat them - haha!

I also wanted to let you know that we have restocked our Elizabeth 20 by 20 Pillow Covers and LOWERED the PRICE! They are now $29.95 instead of $39.95.
We changed the backing to a different fabric so we could make them more affordable!

I am hoping to photograph the project I have been working on for the girls today so I can blog about it soon and also we are going to be having a "Pin It to Win It" Contest at some point in the next week which I am really excited about!

I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday!

Chocolate Cake and Chalk Pens

I saw that quote on Pinterest not to long ago (from someecards.com) and it made me smile. Although, it probably wasn't the best thing for me to write on this tray that I keep in our kitchen, seeing how I am trying to get rid of those last few Lola pounds. =) Actually, I have finally worked out three days in a row. I went on a nice long walk with my aunt and cousin on Saturday morning and went running Sunday and Monday. So maybe, just maybe, despite my sweet tooth, I will be able to comfortably wear my old jeans again. I can get them all on - I just can't move in them - haha!

A couple of weeks ago I helped out my friend Lindsey write on some chalkboards for her wedding. She had some chalk pens for me to use and I absolutely fell in love with them! They are so amazing. I couldn't believe how fabulously they worked. I just ordered two myself.

This is the actual chalk pen I used.

I have been busy working on a fun summer project for the girls that I will have a tutorial for. I am hoping I will get it finished in the next day or two so I can photograph it. It is turning out to be a little bit bigger of a project than I thought it was going to be. I am praying I don't ruin it. Haha!

I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday!

Happy Memorial Day and JJasmin Interiors

I just wanted to pop in real quickly to first, wish you all a happy Memorial Day!

Second, to let you know we have restocked our 1776 pillow covers:

And third to introduce one of our newest sponsors:

Here is a little bit about Julie from her site: She is a designer, wife and mother of three. She was born in Los Angeles where she and her family lived here until a vacation to New England changed their lives. Her parents made the “fly by the seat of your pants” decision to hang up their keys to their 1973 MGB Roadster convertible and 1966 Volks Wagon beetle to buy a Suburban, with U-haul in tow and traveled with their three sweet California girls to lovely Vermont. They purchased a charming gentleman's farm, with a picturesque pond, actual acreage and a rustic barn that was quickly filled with blush pink pigs, hens, ducks, goats, a dog and even honey bees. With fresh beginnings on the farm, it officially began their journey of a true New England country life. Before moving to Vermont, her mother would often attempt to carve out any tiny morsel of a day and paint. Her easel would be strategically placed either in our 60's ranch style eat-in kitchen, nearby gathering room or just about anywhere that would guarantee her brush strokes would not be interrupted as she would inch her way closer to completing my interpretation of a masterpiece. It was from her that Julie began her lifelong fascination and passion for color, textures, expression, history and art.

She is now married to her high school sweetheart and has three children, who all have their own proverbial list of passions, at the top of Julie's being interior design and her everyday longings to master the fine skills of cooking and baking from chefs she admires from all over the globe. For over 10 years, she has had the privilege of transforming residential home's interiors, from the neglected small living spaces to children's rooms, kitchens, baths and commercial spaces. Her designs reflect a gathering of old and new, classic, timeless - not trendy, local and global, modern and traditional influences. For her, interior design is to evolve a backdrop for life to be lived well, with the understanding that creating a space that defines you will enrich your life.

Head on over to her blog and check it out!

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day! We are so incredibly grateful to all of amazing men and women and their families who have and are making such extraordinary sacrifices for our freedom!

Our trip to Georgia

Earlier this week I shared the kitchen makeover photos from our trip to Georgia, now here are some of the "people" pictures. Meredith and Matt have a beautiful home, as you all saw on Monday, and a fabulous backyard that Lillie and Lola loved playing in. Jon's parents traveled down to visit while we were there, as well, and we had lots of fun playing, swimming, eating, and chasing after Meredith and Matt's dog, Winter, and a cat, Jadis. Lola adored Winter and was so sweet and gentle with her (and Winter was so gentle with Lola!) Lola would follow Winter around and kiss her and kept trying to crawl onto her little dog bed under the coffee table with her. It was the cutest thing!

Lola on her first ever carousel ride.

It's a super blurry picture but it was fun watching the girls ride around in the wheelbarrow.

Meredith and Matt are expecting their first baby this fall.

In this box were either pink or blue balloons. Lillie was convinced they were pink...

She was right!

Lillie climbing in the box to get the last of the balloons that were stuck.

Lola thought the box was fun too!

We had lots of yummy food there. Including marshmallows and pound cake...

that were dipped in the chocolate fountain.

Mmmmm...chocolate covered strawberries.

Matt is now deployed and we are praying for him and for Meredith and for all of the other amazing men and women out there and their families who make such incredible sacrifices.

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!
