Our Almost Finished Master Bathroom Makeover with Before and Afters

Although we still have a few finishing touches to add (like a door for the shower and some artwork for the walls) our master bathroom is basically finished! We thought this was going to be one of our first big projects that we would tackle when we first moved in three years ago but we kept moving other projects ahead of it so it ended up being our last big project - ha! We were thrilled to be able to partner up with Wayfair for this project. They have such a huge selection to choose from.  I am so glad to finally have it behind us and am so happy with how it turned out.

Because the space was on the small side we decided to stick with a really light palette to help make it feel more airy and spacious. Here is a little reminder of what it looked like when we moved in:

And here it is now, almost finished:

Another before shot:

And another almost finished after:

I knew I wanted to go with a vanity with a marble top to go with the marble floors but I was a bit torn on whether or not I wanted to go with a white base or a gray one. Then I found this vanity from Wayfair and fell in love with the dark charcoal color! I also loved the open storage space below it that works perfectly for towel storage seeing how we don't have a linen closet in this room.

My girls favorite thing in the new bathroom are the oval mirrors with the medicine cabinets. They think they are "magic mirrors" and they are fascinated that they open up and have a hidden spot to store things. I love that when they open they have mirrors on the back side and inside the cabinet as well! It was such a surprise and such a practical feature.

Although the footprint of the bathroom stayed the same we were able to enlarge the shower quite a bit due to the way the old shower was designed. We absolutely love our new shower system! (We did use a different handle due to something with our plumbing that I don't understand). The rain head is so soothing!

We added some fun accessories from HomeGoods:

I absolutely love the marble hex floor. We used it on both the main floor and the shower floor to help visually make the space seem larger. I had originally planned on using marble tile in the shower as well but to keep the cost down went with basic white subway tile. I love how crisp and clean it feels!

I love the simple and traditional feel of of this toilet - I wish I could get a better photo of it but it's hard to get at the right angle.

A Little Peek into Our Updated Master Bathroom

Happy Friday! Our bathroom makeover isn't quite finished yet - we still need the shower door and some art for the walls but otherwise it's basically done! I took a bunch of photos earlier this week and am working on a post for this weekend but thought I'd share a few little peeks today:

Bluestone Hill Bedroom Hallway

This back hall connects the two bedrooms downstairs, or what used to be the master bedroom and library. Our uncle was a great reader, and had a fabulous book collection that filled the walls of built-ins in the library...and all the other bookshelves in the house. As much as we loved the library, for our family, it really needed to be a bedroom. We got a little too spoiled with full nights of glorious sleep when our first daughter was about three months old until close to three years. Shortly after we moved here, she began having scary dreams...so this short little hallway is well-traveled at night!

I love the fact that he had built-ins and extra storage put in everywhere he could throughout the house. (I must have inherited my packrat tendencies from him--although he at least kept his 300 stick-it pads in meticulous order.) Even this back hall has several closets and a set of open shelves, which you see when looking in from the living room. The back of the shelving is painted Moonshine.

I usually don't have time to stop and smell the hydrangeas at 3 a.m. ;)

The trim color was existing, and the wall color is Pale Smoke.

Hopefully there will be no pitter-patter of feet upon this floor tonight! (Actually, there never is...I vault over my out-cold husband and thunder down the hall with all the grace of a rhinocerous when I wake up to our daughter yelling for me in the wee hours. I don't think I have ever pitter-pattered down this hall after 10PM.) Either way though, wish us luck!
