I don't know how you do it!...I'm with Amy! I don't know how you do it! I'm not sure if it's b/c I have two children or a boy, but this look (which I love) wouldn't last in my house. We actually have pretty similar decorating taste. (I have a white brick fireplace, an apple green accent wall, and lots of vases of cut greenery from our yard and varied textures from bundles of sticks, an old wide plank pine media cabinet, and vintage glass bottles.) But EVERYTHING is up! Like that glass dresser--that would get covered in fingerprints in a second! Oh, I forgot, we have this exact same ottoman, and I used to change Mia on it, too! I have a white slip covered sectional with it. Maybe when the kids are older, I'll tackle recovering it. Hope you are well!! It has been soooo great with kiddos! Right now our $25 garage sale ottoman usually is sans slipcover because I swear I put that thing on and then Evy draws all over it! So we only bring it out for special occasions now. Either way, I just love how I can pull things off my furniture and get everything neat and clean in a matter of hours.

Good job on that cover! I know for sure I would never be able to do that!! And I agree with Jenni, Lillie is an amazing child that she doesn't destroy everything in 2 seconds flat! ha! xoxoAmyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01638563848121452943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6927526976748945841.post-7186689062480410612011-01-16T21:29:34.176-05:002011-01-16T21:29:34.176-05:00Thanks Jennifer! Amanda - ...Thanks for all of your sweet comments!

Amanda - I wish I had advice but I am slowly learning to sew myself and pretty much everything I make is through lots of trial and error! The main thing I learned with this project was to put fabric on over the ottoman inside out and then I pinned it and then took it off and sewed it and then flipped it back over. After I did that with the main part I added the skirt. First I cut the fabric in strips and pinned it into pleats and then pinned it onto the ottoman to make sure it fell evenly. Then I sewed it on and I actually glued the trim on to cover up most of my imperfections! It was pretty easy though seeing how it was a rectangle - a chair sounds WAY harder!!!!!

Jenni - Haha - oh no, she is one WILD thing indeed! I feel like all I do is clean up after her all day long. Jon and I are both so Type-A and so it drives me crazy to have things out of place, and him crazy if anything is dirty. I am afraid once baby number two makes her debut though it is going to get a whole lot harder to keep everything in it's place!

Amanda #2 - We keep pretty much all of it hidden away in baskets, drawers, trunks and under things. For instance our coffee table has three baskets under it - one is full of diapers and wipes and that kind of stuff which we are basically done with now for Lillie but about to start all over again with the new wee one, and the other two are full of books and puzzles, then under those two white slipcovered chairs in our family room is where I hide her tractor's, some little dolls, balls and whatever else I can fit under them. Then over in the corner we have a cool little trunk that I got at Target on clearance about a year or so ago that serves as her toybox and has all the rest of her junk. I love it because when it is closed it looks like a nice! She has a handful of "bigger" toys that I keep out in the garage and just bring them in whenever she wants to play with them. I also like having several dresser like pieces downstairs that we can store stuff in and that really helps alot because our house is quite small and there is practically no storage space! =(

Brandi - I have a Mac. I had one in college that lasted forever and then it finally had enough two and a half years ago so in an effort to save money I got a PC to replace it. I had soooooo many problems with it and was constantly having to bring it in to be repaired. It broke back in December and I went back to a Mac. I use Photoshop CS5. I LOVE it, but it is really all I know. Pre-Lillie and Dear Lillie days I was a graphic designer so I had to use it and now I am too old and lazy to try anything else - haha! It is pretty pricey though. My sister has Photoshop Elements which I think is much more reasonably priced and she enjoys it. I haven't ever used it before though so I don't know how it compares to CS5. If you like to take photos it is definitely worth investing in. It is amazing what a little photoshopping can do!

I hope you all are having a great weekend!Dear Lilliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16916503973078592801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6927526976748945841.post-4521914456245780582011-01-15T23:29:02.930-05:002011-01-15T23:29:02.930-05:00I LOVE the ottoman!!
