Yesterday I finished making a bench to go with our farmhouse table. I am hoping to get it photographed later this week. I took photos as I went so I can do a tutorial, although it might be another week or so before I get to that. Today I thought I would show you the autumn changes we have made in our family room so far.
The wreath was from Pier 1 several years ago. The pumpkins were both from Hobby Lobby (I think) quite a few years ago. I purchased them after Halloween when they were just a dollar or two and then painted them. We finally have real pumpkins here in Williamsburg. We've bought a few for our front doorstep and I hope to get some more to add in here and replace these faux ones once the weather gets a little cooler. It's nice having the fake ones, though, while we are waiting for it to cool down a bit.
And yes, we've added another little spot for toys in this room. Not too long ago I got this basket at TJ Maxx. Last fall I did a post on where we hid all of our toys. Back then Lola was just a few months old so she really didn't have any, it was just Lillie's stuff. Now that Lola's toys have been added to the mix we had to find one more little spot to help contain them. =)
Another painted pumpkin:
gorgeous!

ps. Loved the article on your home in the BHG Christmas magazine.
I like the warm and bright colors that you have brought in here and there. I still love the neutrals, the areas of bright color work great without overwhelming the peaceful nature of your home. I do love that feeling of light and bright space!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day, Nancy
Love this room. I pinned some pictures and I am looking forward to seeing your BHG feature!

ReplyDeleteEvery detail is wonderful. I love it all.
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely, as always! Did you make the pillows in the 3rd photo? I love plaid this time of year (and it works well going into the holidays) I am thinking this would be fun to try on some plain pillows!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, I did make them. We sold some in our shop last year. I love plaid to this time of year. It has such a cozy feel to it!
DeleteLovely! I'm a huge fan of baskets for toys, makes it all much easier on the eye when they're in a pretty container. Of course, my daughter's toys are spilling over at the moment - not so pretty.
ReplyDeleteVery homey. I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so warm & cozy! Makes me want to sit in there with a warm mug of hot chocolate. I'll bring the marshmallows ! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo warm and welcoming...love those ruffled plaid pillows!

ReplyDeleteI just love your blog and all your projects! I was wondering where you got the little round table that is between your white chairs in the family room. Do you have a post about you painting it?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Molly
Thanks. I got it about five years ago at Pottery Barn. It was a floor model and was on clearance. Here is the post from when I painted it:

ReplyDeleteI love the white chairs, ottoman and toile accent chair in the family room! Can you please share where they are from? As always, your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The white chairs are from a store in Williamsburg called Savvy. The ottoman is from Target and the toile chair was a second hand find that I got for $25 and had recovered. The fabric was from Joann's. Have a wonderful Sunday!
DeleteI discovered your blog recently and LOVE your style. How did you make the fall chalkboard looking sign. I adore the lettering!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You can about how I made the chalkboard here: http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/chalkboard-frame.html
DeleteAnd for the lettering I just freehand. I have always enjoyed playing around with my penmanship. =)
I love how there is so much stuff in your home yet it still looks so organized. I dunno how you do it?
