I showed you Jamie and Josh's new nursery along with some photos of their dining room last week and now I will show you the last set of photos I took of their home during my last trip up to NH. Today I am showing you the other wall of their dining room and the new hutch Jamie has placed between the windows. She found the piece at a consignment shop and even though it wasn't what she had in mind, it was well-made and a steal! By just painting it and then adding some chicken wire and changing out the hardware she was able to freshen it up and make it the perfect addition to their dining room!
As you can see from the before picture which was taken at the consignment shop, the piece was in great shape - it just didn't go with the room.
I am not sure of the paint color she used but I think it was Brandon Beige by Benjamin Moore. I am writing this post pretty late at night so I can't text her but I will try to confirm that with Jamie later today and update this post.
I hope you all have a blessed Monday!
Bellissimo...
ReplyDeleteA presto,
Silvia
Love the new look, especially the chicken wire replacing the glass! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day !
ReplyDeleteSuch a great transformation! From old and dated to an updated and elegant piece!
ReplyDeleteYes, Very Very lovely! Love the chicken wire replacing the glass and the arches on the door. For me, when you look at the before and after, I definetly feel less afraid to paint over wood after seeing the transformation!
ReplyDeletePlease inform the paint color when you can and if there was any special technique she used to achieve the end result.
Thanks, and again very pretty!
Pam
Thanks, Pam! I confirmed with her that it was Brandon Beige.
DeleteBeautiful! I had a hutch I am planning to paint this summer -- a similar color to that or maybe a darker gray...I was thinking chalk or milk paint but this is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy hutch looks just like the "before" and I have been wanting to paint it for years! But I am chicken. Also, did the hutch have glass shelves before? If so, I would love a little info on how they replaced them with wood shelves. Lovely results, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think they had glass shelves before. I have painted the shelves on two different pieces like that and I suggested to her to try it too (I just painted over the glass). I am not sure though if that's what she did or if her husband made her some wood shelves. I will ask her.
DeleteYes, I did paint right over the glass. The paint comes off more easily on glass, but I don't really use the stuff in the hutch, so it's not a problem.

Well done, Jamie- thanks for sharing this amazing before and after of that awesome piece. I see lots and lots of befores and afters - and this is a fav - I really cannot believe it is the same piece! WOW!
ReplyDeleteLovin her house, whoo hoo!
Oh, it's so beautiful! I love the paint color she chose. Fabulous piece...and it fit so perfectly between the flowing white curtains on the windows.

Love the colors. Please, tell me how to avoid brush strokes. I recently painted a dresser and made it into a TV stand. Brush strokes aren't bad but this looks so smooth! Can you go into more detail of how this was painted????
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Please advise on paint color and technique when you get a chance. I have a mission style hutch I am planning to paint and would love to have it turn out like this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam! I confirmed with her that it was Brandon Beige.
DeleteAmazing! Beautiful work! Your family is so talented! I wish I was in it. You all inspire me everyday.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.

I LOVED this! Would you mind posting what her wall color is as well? I love it! It's hard to find the perfect neutral. :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and will be subscribing for updates. love it!
Thanks! It is Alexandria Beige. I've used it in our last two homes, and Jamie and my mom have used it as well! It's a lovely color!
DeleteThis hutch is soooo beautiful! I just cant get over it!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower. So, nice to meet you!

Absolutely beautiful. I'd love to do this to mine. But Brandon Beige by Benjamin Moore looks like a darker tan color color similar to the inside of the hutch. Do you know what color she used for the outside. It looks like a creamy white on my monitor, nothing like Brandon Beige. Unless the color on my monitor is way off, is the outside of the hutch a different color?
ReplyDeleteMary
Both the inside and the outside are indeed Brandon Beige. I have found that colors often appear much lighter when painted on a piece of furniture than they appear on a swatch or on walls.
