Farmhouse Holiday Series - Early Fall Family Room at Bluestone Hill

We are so excited to be joining our host Kristen, from Ella Claire and so many of our other favorite bloggers for the second week of our Farmhouse Holiday Series!  We hope that you will enjoy over the next couple of months as we share glimpses into our homes throughout the fall and the holiday season. Today, it's going to be me, Jamie, sharing our family room with some simple autumn touches we have added.

In years past, I have been ready and waiting for fall pretty much when I wake up on July 19th. Once I celebrated my birthday, I considered the best part of summer to be over and would start thinking about turning the Christmas music on. Plus, I strongly dislike the heat (I consider anything over 80 degrees to be "the heat")...Enter two little girls with endless amounts of energy (particularly the little one) and suddenly I love summer. I still consider 85 degrees to be sweltering, but I don't mind sweating it out if it means escaping the confines of the house, where every. single. item. in the playroom ends up on the carpet every. single. day. The girls love being outdoors and so do I, and I'm not looking forward to shorter days, less sunlight, and eventually pretty much no outdoor time for several months. So...this year, for the first time ever, I have been a little reluctant to decorate for fall, as if acknowledging its arrival will usher it in a little bit faster. I just wasn't ready for pumpkins yet, so I added some more subtle touches...

I took away all the blue pillows and added some cream and brown ones, neutral plaid throws, and cut a bunch of hydrangeas from the garden.

I temporarily hung this vintage Gettysburg Battlefield print where our Minted artwork has been. I like the way the aged print looks here for autumn.

Here is a peek in from the entryway. Although there is still much to do, I love how the rooms are beginning to tie together.

And be sure to check out all of these gorgeous spaces:

  2. Love how your sectional is around the rug and not lined along the wall. Brings in so much more light and really highlights the artwork on the walls! I'm obsessed with the shape of your hydrangea stems! And the pears! So so gorgeous
