Progress in Our Upstairs Hall Bathroom

Although we still have a ways to go before it's finished I thought I would show you the progress we've made so far in our upstairs hall bathroom. We still need to add wallpaper, find mirrors (that has turned out to be a lot harder than I thought! I have found a few I like but they either haven't been in stock, or were the wrong size or just too expensive), add a window treatment and then do a little accessorizing so it's looking pretty blah, but still it's quite a bit of progress from where we started:

We hired a contractor to do all the big projects and we were so pleased with how it went! I am thrilled with the new tile floor that looks just like wood and we found our vanity on clearance at a local furniture store. It was almost 80% off. It wasn't at all the look I had planned on for this bathroom (I had originally planned on going with a marble counter) but I loved the look of it and couldn't beat the price so I decided to throw my other plan out the window and go with this.

The little chandelier is from Lowe's and the faucets are from Overstock. The little wallpaper sample is most likely what we are going to go with in here although I haven't decided for sure yet.

I do not miss the tiny mustard colored tub/shower! This tub is much deeper - yay!

And this is a horrible shot, but I was trying to show how close the tile floor looks to the real wood!

Once we have the bathroom complete I will do a full post with lots more details and a full source list.

I hope you all have a lovely rest of the week!

  1. Have you considered stenciling that wall instead of wallpaper? We had wallpaper in a bathroom with a shower and the humidity from the shower eventually reeked havoc on the wallpaper! Loving your vanity!!

    1. Thanks! We actually thought about stenciling for a little while, and I pinned a bunch of options, but we are leaning towards wallpaper now.

  4. Beautiful! You seriously think of everything. After you instagrammed your new floors, I was going to ask if you could show a picture featuring the two floors so we could see how they work together, but you already did, thank you!

  11. Jennifer the vanity, faucets, and sink are so beautiful. The floors look so much like wood. I see in your reply above that you purchased them in a tile store in Virginia. Could you please share the brand with us. The before and after of the bath is just outstanding as all your rooms are.

  13. Oh my, it is gorgeous!! I can't wait to see how you finish it up. It is such a dramatic change. I have a window in my bathroom too and am wanting to change up the window treatment, so I am eager to see what you do with that window - I love your style!

I also loved your other bathroom remodel. Have you been happy with the quality of your Evercor countertops in that one? Are they easy to clean and take care of? I am considering getting that same product from Lowes. Thanks!

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth! Yes, I love it for the bathroom, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a kitchen just because the repeat pattern would be more obvious on a larger surface area.

  14. Absolutely love this! I've read your blog for ages, but never commented. But this bathroom vanity is just gorgeous! And, I love the tile! We recently put the wood tile in both of our bathrooms (the Marazzi Montagna Saddle from Home Depot) and it has made a world of difference! A couple of friends and my parents kept knocking on it because they couldn't believe it was tile! I love the wallpaper choice too. Our bathroom previously had wallpaper for years, but it wasn't an issue with the moisture - probably because we have several windows. I see you have a large window too, so hopefully that won't be a issue! Can't wait to see the finished product!

  26. Jennifer,
I have been debating about whether or not to do the wood look tile and my concern is chipping, most of the ones I have seen the color doesn't run through and so if something heavy is dropped on it, like a hairdryer, curling iron etc, the chip would be really noticeable. What are your thoughts about that?

    1. I wouldn't worry too much about it! I'm sure it happens, but we've never had tile chip in any of the other places we have lived.

  33. Jennifer, I've been following for a long time and as always your transformations are amazing! I see your house originally had wallpaper. When you painted or re-wallpapered, did you have to remove the old wallpaper first?

    1. Thanks, Sarah! They removed the wallpaper in every room except for one which they painted over.
