Some Finishing Touches to Our Gray Guest Bedroom

In the last couple of weeks we have finally gotten around to adding a few small details to our gray guest bedroom. First, we did kind of a rug switch-a-roo. We moved this rug up from our living room and into here. Then we took the playroom rug and moved it down to the living room (it's larger than this gray and white rug and therefore fits much more nicely in the living room than the gray and white one did - it was a little too small for the living room even though I really loved how it looked). And then lastly we moved the rug from our other extra bedroom into the playroom. So, now that guest room is in need of a rug instead of this one.

Another thing we did was add some roman shades to the windows which I think our guests will appreciate. And then we added some photos on one of the bare walls. Other than that we didn't do much else in here. Here are some before and afters:

You can read more about the process of making this room over here.

  4. It's a gorgeous room - I do covet it! I love the silver chest with the mirrored chest across the room. However, I think a lamp by the reading chair or on the mirrored piece would be helpful. That must be a dark corner at night or even on a cloudy afternoon. Not to suggest anything decor wise - you're very talented. But just something useful.

  11. Thanks, I was just about to ask the same thing about the wallpaper. There are a couple of rooms in our 1972 split level that we just purchased where I want to get rid of the wallpaper and hopefully just paint over it.

    1. Thanks! If its not peeling anywhere (and really flush to the wall) then priming it twice and painting it is what I would personally do, although I am not an expert!

  24. I'm in love with your room! I've been searching months for some inspiration and I found it! I see you listed the wall color below, but I've never heard of the brand BM before. Do you happen to have a link to where I can purchase it from or the store you bought it at?

    1. Thanks, Nataly! The brand is Benjamin Moore. They are one of the largest paint brands, so there should be a retailer near you. I believe they have a store locator on their website.

  26. I'm so excited to have stumbled on your pin and found your site. You've created what I have been trying to express for my guest room. I even have a chest similar to yours in the room and have been trying to find the "just right" duvet cover. Thank you for having a list and answering questions people have asked in the comments. Extremely helpful!
You have a new fan and customer! Merry Christmas!

  27. We recently had weather damage to our home and I am in the process of completely re-doing our master bedroom! I found this pin today and will be using many of your ideas to re-create this amazing room. Is this a king size bed, and if so, what is the size is the area rug you use?

  28. Does the Graystone paint ever look greenish at night? I'd like a gray, but don't want any green undertones.

  29. Love everything about this, I saw that you previously said the bed was queen size, so does that mean both the duvet cover and Pom Pom quilt you have are both Queen size? The quilt falls just right!

I would like to do the same look for my room
