A New Loloi Rug and Some Blue Added to Jamie and Josh's Family Room

One of the first projects my sister Jamie tackled when they moved into their new home this winter was painting all of the trim, beams and the kitchen cabinets. They were a brilliant blue color that worked wonderfully for our Uncle Bob's style but were a little bold for Jamie and Josh's style. Once she had painted the trim white (which was quite the project!) and had their existing brown and taupe furniture in here it looked pretty, but it felt a little dreary with all of the blue that was so reminiscent of our Uncle being completely gone. We decided that if they bought a white slipcover for their sofa and painted the walls blue, it would be easy to add blue back into the room with the addition of accessories.

This gorgeous rug from Loloi's Florence Collection was a great starting point in adding blue into the space. We went with the 9'6" by 13' size and it fits this room so beautifully! Loloi rugs are so incredibly soft which is great because they have a three year old and one year old and this is the room they spend the most time in, so being able to play on a soft cozy rug is ideal and the fact that it is also stunning makes it a great option for a family room. It has blues, grays and creams all mixed in and has such a subtle mix of the colors to it. It also has kind of a vintage feel which we love and which goes really well in this house and the many antiques sprinkled throughout it.

A navy ottoman, pillows and artwork all helped add blue back into the room (we will share more about those items in the next post where we will have lots more full room shots).

You can see the beautiful details of the rug here. We highly recommend Loloi! They were so incredibly wonderful to work with and the rug is not only beautiful but such a high quality. It's even more beautiful in person.

Most of all I know that not only for Jamie and Josh, but for our whole family we absolutely love walking into this room - it feels fresh and updated for their young family but also still has that subtle feeling of our beloved Uncle and his love for blue. I can't wait to share some full room shots with parts of the kitchen in the next post. And as Jamie continues to make progress on more of their spaces we will continuing sharing! I absolutely love how it's all coming together. Oh and if you are wondering where the other rug that was in here went - don't worry. It's now in their master bedroom where it looks amazing. Jamie's made quite a bit of progress in there although it's not quite finished. Once it is I can't wait to share that room with you.

I just painted my dining room white I thought it would be easy to pick a white...who knew there were so many shades of white! I love what you did to your sisters room it looks so beautiful!!! I painted my kitchen Gray Owl by BM she should check it out it is a light gray and in some lighting it has the lightest hint of blue.
