The Rest of the Porch

I cannot even begin to thank you all properly for all of yours prayers for little Miss Lorelei! Friday was one of the longest days of my life and as I was sitting in the waiting room at the hospital and reading comment after comment from you all on my phone it brought me to tears and it was such a comfort knowing that not only was our whole family praying for her that day but so many people we have never even met before were as well. She did wonderfully and although we did have to spend the night on Friday she was able to be discharged on Saturday and we got home in time to attend the beautiful wedding of our friends, Ben and Lisa! Now we just have to wait one to two weeks for the pathology report to come back but her surgeon said she felt confident that the tissue she removed was benign. I will let you all know once we hear something. Thank you all from the very bottom of my heart!  There are no words to express how grateful I am!

Now onto some decorating! Here is the other side of the porch. Because this was a slow process that I started almost a month ago it looks pretty "springy". I think in a couple more weeks I will remove all of the eggs and add a few more pops of color out there to help it look a little more "summery". When I do I will post some more photos. For now, though, here is what the other side of our porch looks like:

* Although I prefer vases filled with fresh flowers or branches with blossoms - like dogwoods, or cherry blossoms - vases filled with tree branches work too - and they are free!  I didn't have time to head to Trader Joe's to pick up some fresh flowers like I had planned before I photographed the porch so I just went out to the woods and cut some branches down.

I recovered the cushions and pillows a few weeks ago.

I love these little cups and saucers from Burdick's
(a gift from my sister and brother-in-law quite a few years ago)!

This moss letter was even easier than the other ones I showed you a while back
I have a tutorial for this that I will post later this week.

And if you haven't seen photos of the other side of the porch with the daybed and table you can click here.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and again thank you, thank you, thank you!

  8. Beautiful porch! Mine is very similar to yours (as in the space, not the decor. I WISH mine was decorated as lovely as that). Is it screened? Mine is screened and I find we get a lot of moisture in there.

Your sweet porch makes me want to get to work on our porch, but there is a kitchen range sitting out there that I can't convince my husband to sell.

  21. Glad to hear that everything went well with Lorelei. There's no way to explain how it feels for your baby to go through surgery, unless you've been through it before. My best friend's son was born at 24 weeks gestation, and has had over 60 surgeries-can you imagine??? He's now almost 5 and the sweetest boy every (although he has many many health issues).
On to the porch...Love it! I am moving to a home with a sunroom and I can't wait to decorate it! I'm thinking I'll need some fleur pillows of my own, once you reopen your shop =)
Take care and lots of love to your babies!

  33. Jennifer, I just read about dear little Lola Wren! I am praying for her. That is a wonderful thing about God, he is outside of time, so my prayer could be included with all the others for your precious little girl.
I will continue to pray for the best outcome and for Lola to grow in "stature and wisdom and favor before God and men."

Your porch is beautiful. Inviting and crisp! I love the chocolate cups filled with speckled eggs!

  46. Jennifer,
I havn't commented since little Lola arrived and I just have to tell you that she is beautiful! Congratulations! I'm sorry to hear about her surgery and the complications with her health, but it sounds like she's doing better, which I'm so grateful for. I'll be checking back for an update, but until then will keep you and your sweet family in my prayers.
By the way your porch looks AMAZING! Great way to welcome in summer.

  47. Just beautiful, Jennifer! Although I don't have a porch, I do have a screened gazebo in our back yard. You've inspired me to give it a little more attention this year. Those little touches you've added all around make it such a welcoming spot to sit.

  49. I'm always in awe when I visit. This is gorgeous. I have a question if you have time to answer. Do you have screens on your porch or is it glass? If screens, how do you keep everything so clean, especially the white? My screened in porch gets so much dirt. Thanks!

  53. I just love every little single thing you do, I just posted about my porch and it sure could use your help to warm it up...I think I might steal your letter & moss idea for the center of my fireplace, so darn perfect!

  54. Thank you all for your sweet words and continued prayers - we appreciate them so very much!

Prudently Painted Vintage - Yes, it is a screened porch.

Our really empty nest & Cheryl - I plan on posting the tutorial on Friday. I have all of the pictures taken I just need to add the text.

Tammy - it is just screened. For the most part we just have to sweep in and during pollen season do some dusting. We have been here three years now and this spring I did finally recover the chair cushions and pillows because they were getting a little yucky.

  59. Wondering where you found your cute daybed frame for your back porch? Would love to find something like this for my guest bedroom.

  60. Andrea - I found two twin beds at an antique store in a little town in SC almost five years ago. When we moved the movers destroyed parts of both beds so I put the pieces that I could salvage together and made the daybed.
