Our Master Bedroom Before We Paint it Again...

I worked on getting the Thanksgiving downloads we will be offering, printed and set up on a festive autumn table setting this weekend but I didn't get to photograph it in time to post tonight so it will have to wait. The only thing I have for tonight are a few pictures of our bedroom that I took in a hurry. I am thinking about painting it a lighter color so thought I would show it with some fall decor before I take the plunge and paint it. I haven't decided for sure that I am going to do it but I am definitely leaning towards it.

And yes, we have a TV in there. I was tempted to hide it, =) but decided to leave it seeing how we often get asked where the TV's in our house are. We have two - this one and the one in our family room.  I don't know if Jon and I have ever watched something on this TV together in the four years we've lived here. It sure did come in handy, though, when I had morning sickness with Lola and couldn't get out of bed, I could just snuggle up with Lillie and let her watch a show.

As I mentioned I took these pictures in a hurry and not at the best time of day plus I think the fall decor in here doesn't really pop that well so I thought I would also share a couple old pictures that I like a little better!

I also wanted to let you all know about a new home decor/ lifestyle e-course hosted by Jeanne Oliver and four other talented bloggers!

That's it for tonight! I hope you all have a beautiful week!

UPDATE: Sorry, I typed this post up very quickly as it was not what I had planned for tonight and forget to mention why I was planning on painting it. I still love this color! It's one of my favorites and I would use it again. However, we are hoping to put our house on the market for real this coming spring. (We mentioned selling it on the blog this past summer and put a for sale by owner sign in our window for a few months but didn't get a realtor or really put much of an effort into selling it. Once this basketball season is over, though, we are going to officially put it on the market and attempt to sell it). Because of that I think this room would be better a more neutral color. I am leaning towards Revere Pewter. I've used it on furniture pieces before and my parent's used it in several of their rooms and I LOVE it and I think it would be a more "safe" color to prospective buyers. This is the only room that I think the current color has the potential to scare someone off! Haha!

  5. Jennifer your taste is beyond amazing. So what ever color you choose, it will be beautiful. Your room currently has a elegant retreat flair. Stunning... feminine & masculine.
Looking forward to the new fall items. Have a wonderful week. Enjoy!!

  6. Beautiful bedroom. But I can relate... I am in the process of changing our master as well. Paint and paint and more paint. Can hardly wait to see what direction you go. I am leaning toward a rich cream. Moving to a more neutral look through out the entire home. Out with the rich reds, golds and greens of a Tuscan decor to a the more muted palette of white, creams and chocolates .

  11. I surely will miss seeing the dark walls in your room, especially since it inspired my room color and decor, but, I totally understand where you are coming from, and I myself often wonder if and when we do decide to sell, what would prospective buyers think. Good luck with the painting, I'm sure it will turn out lovely.

  14. I love the color of your bedroom, but you may be right, prospective buyers might look for more neutral colors. Your house is so beautifully decorated, i wouldn't be surprised if someone wanted to buy it all just the way it is, and ask you to leave all your stuff there too!

  16. Still love your room. I would really like to find your bed from Hayne edle but don't see exact one. What fabric is yours and is the color just called white? Didn't your sister get the same one there?Do you think you might still use gray on your walls?

    1. I don't think they make it anymore. =( My fabric was a white twill. Yes, Revere Pewter is kind of a light grayish color.

  18. I think the color you have right now is really pretty, but can understand what you are saying. Your house is so nice though I think the buyer would totally get it! My friend did their kitchen in Revere Pewter - it turned out really well!

    1. The night stands are from Pier 1. We've had them for about five or six years but I'm pretty sure they still carry them.

  21. Are those bed covers made of egyptian cotton? My wife just made me pickup a pair of Egyptian cotton sheets and they are actually very nice. I have grown a major obsession toward this type of material and wish I could be draped in it at all times!

  22. It's gorgeous. I think you should keep it just how it is....orrrrrr, you can bring everything over to my house, including your beautiful charcoal gray paint color, to transplant into my master bedroom. LOL. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be yummy!

The one one on your nightstand with the flower pitcher and clock beside it? I just can't seem to find one with such a nice shape. Thank you so much!

    ReplyDelete

    1. The dressers in these photos are both old ones that we repainted. One was Jon's childhood dresser that we had in our guest room in our last house and moved in to our room in this house so it has several coats of paint on it. =) And the other one was from a thrift store in South Carolina that we got years ago and has also been painted a few times. =)

  30. How big is your bedroom? I would love to do the kendall charcoal but fear it will make my smaller bedroom appear miniature!

  31. What size is your bedroom? I'm really wanting to try a dark color like Kendall charcoal but worry it will make my smaller sized room look miniature!

  32. Hi! I ordered the headboard in Pearl and it arrived a honey color! Do you mind sharing the color tone and fabric of the Skyline headboard in your photo? I think they messed up and want to order again, but it took so long the first time that I didn't want to end up with the wrong color again. Thanks!

    1. Mine is white. It was probably a white duck but I'm not sure. I don't think Skyline carries it any longer in the white color but I could be wrong.

  33. Hi! What size is your bed? I like how you have your pillows arranged and I was wondering if 3 euro pillows would fit on my queen bed.

Is this the headboard that you have? I ordered this and the white is not a true white. More like an off-white. Maybe it's just my eyes, but at times it looks like there is a dull greenish tint. There is def a contrast between the color of the headboard and my white pillows. Is yours like that?

    ReplyDelete

    1. No, mine is not white velvet. Mine is a white duck and it is a pretty true white. Or at least it once was. =) We've had it for about five years now so it's not quite as bright white as it once was.

  36. Hello! I love this master bedroom and just got done painting it the charcoal color! I am sooo in love with it! It looks so elegant against my white framed doors :) I do have 1 question though ... it looks as if you have 2 white dressers, is that right? Is the horizontal one with the TV across from the bed. I'm trying to envision this set up. Also, it looks like you may have had wood at one point for one of the dressers. I would love to know to give me some direction! Thanks so much!
