Adding Some Early Autumn Touches to Our Den/Study

Now that it's September we've started adding some autumn touches around the house. Despite a lot of hunting for them we haven't come across any real pumpkins yet and it's still quite hot here so I'm hoping that by adding a few darker cozy touches to this room will help make it feel like fall is on the horizon. This room has a warm feeling to begin with so we pretty much just changed out the pillows and added a few simple fall accessories.

One of the trees in our yard has leaves that are starting to turn a bit. In just a few more weeks the leaves on this tree will be a brilliant color. Or at least I am hoping they will be. Last year they were quite pretty!

I moved the beautiful cow painting from my grandfather into our master bedroom above our dresser for now and brought this mirror back in here for fall and Christmas. And I put one of our chalkboard canvases in the hallway where this mirror was. Then I will swap everything back again in January. I know that probably sounds a little bit crazy but it actually took less than five minutes to do the switch and I like how it looks this way a little bit better for fall. Although I have to say during the rest of the year I love the color the painting adds to this room.

Don't forget we are giving away two of these cable knit pillows, one stag pillow and a beautiful wreath in this post here.

    1. Thanks, Eileen! We store all of our seasonal stuff in the attic, but we definitely need to organize up there! It's kind of a mess right now :)

  5. When you say remnants from Lowe's do you mean the carpet they cut of the big rolls?

    1. Hi! It was just set aside and marked "remnant." I'm not sure exactly what it meant, but it was super cheap and I think it was possibly left over from a large rug they had cut.

  8. Love your blog Jennifer! Everything is gorgeous. I have a question about your guest bathroom. How were you able to put the vanity against the wall? The bottom "feet" jut out a bit and it seems it would create a gap between the wall and side of the cabinet. I would love to purchase the same vanity. Thanks for inspiring me!

    1. Thanks so much, Kristen! The base is flush to the wall as well as the granite. There is a gap between the side though and the wall, which is how its designed to be so that it looks like a piece of furniture.
