Valentine's Link Party

Last year we did a ton of PINK everywhere for Valentine's Day. This year I had planned on doing something completely different, with lots of creams, ivories, tans and book pages. Well, there really hasn't been time to do any of that these past few weeks and to be honest I wasn't really in the mood to do much anyway. So, instead we just added a few simple touches for Valentine's this year.

One of the projects I had planned on doing was making a big coffee filter heart. I really liked the way the cupcake liner L that we made for Lillie's birthday turned out, but it took FOREVER so I thought it would save some time using the coffee filters that I have seen some people use. Well, I didn't make it to the grocery store until last night and I needed them the night before so I could make it and get it photographed yesterday during the daylight. So, I ended up just using folded up white tissue paper because I had a bunch of that on hand. I am not the biggest fan of how it turned out. In fact, I don't really like it much at all but fortunately it was completely free and Lillie loved it - it's pretty easy to impress a three year old with a project - haha! I rushed through doing it (I didn't start it until after midnight and knew I had to finish it before I went to bed because I needed to photorgraph it yesterday) and didn't take the time to properly "fluff" out each tissue. I actually took step by step photos to do a tutorial but I think I will wait and make another one with coffee filters and show the step by step with that. I do want to make another one really soon. I am trying to figure out what shape to do to hang in Lola's window.

And over here we used the LOVE banner and Love Birds cutout from last year.

And then we have the "Love is" pillow set on our sofa. We just restocked them in our shop this morning.

Okay, so now it's time to LINK UP!

This is our first time hosting a party and we are so excited!
The rules are EASY!

1.) Your post has to be Valentine's related. It can be a project, a party, a gift, or anything else Valentine's related.

2.) Post a permalink. Make sure to link to your actual post, not your blog.
Please only post links to your blog posts, and not shops or advertising links.

3.) Please make sure to link back to the party. You can either use this button

or include a text link that links back to here:

We will choose our three favorites and feature them later this week!

Have fun! We can't wait to see all of your projects!
Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. You know, I rather like the way the tissue paper heart turned out. It makes it different and more unique from all the other coffee filter poofs you see out there, and it kinda looks like little roses :) I adore the black and white decor for Valentines too. So up my alley :)

    Now following you through Linky!

  8. Hi Jennifer, I have been trying to link up to the Valentine Party about 4 different times and no matter how I try to get your link into my post this linky won't accept it and tells me that I don't have it in my post. I use this linky for my weekly party and had to drop the "backlink" option because it wasn't working correctly.
I'd love to link up, so far I can't. Love your Valentine coffee filter heart!! Have a wonderful week! xoxo

  9. I love how you decorate Jenni! Seriously, I wish I had your skills! I linked up my felt flower wreath for your party, it is an oldie, but a goodie, hope it counts! January/February is a busy time of year for me (three of the four of us are celebrating birthdays) and I really didn't squeeze anything Valentine's Day in this year, just couldn't wait to hang up my wreath!

Hope you guys are doing well! I don't think I have commented on your blog as much lately, but please know I read every single post and love your pins on pinterest too! Now if you only had an iPhone and were on Instagram...that is my latest addiction!

  10. Thanks for doing this - I'm going through now to look at everyone's projects. I just recently discovered your blog and am happy I did. My husband and I are doing a complete DIY remodel of our old home and it is very exhausting, but looking at your beautiful home and decorating projects (even though our styles are very different) really inspired me to keep going!

  24. Jenni, what a great party! You're very smart to have this during Valentine's week--we're all eager to showcase our Valentine's projects, and what better place than here? Thank you very much for hosting!

I'm linking up a heart-shaped wreath I made out of stuff I had on hand plus $2 worth of moss. Since my house is full of boys, I tend to shy away from anything that's very girly--but so far no one has complained about this wreath. Your decorations look wonderful as always! :)

  31. Hi. Just discovered your lovely blog! I agree -- enough with the red, pink and frilly...that's why I created Valentine framed artwork that embodies cream, beige, sage and black. Hope you like it. It's my ode to the famous movie line, "You had me at hello."

I'm now following you! Hope you can come by for a visit, too, at

  32. Ooops...Not sure what happened to a comment I was just typing. It vanished! Anyway, I think your home looks lovely. The tissue paper heart is darling!!!

My e-mail is not working at all right now but I did see your message the other day by logging into our provider for a second. I have prayed so hard for your family. I have talked to my boys about Blake too. You have been close to my heart and mind constantly. I honestly cannot imagine the void that sweet looking and sounding boy has left. it just breaks my heart. I have something to send you. Could you email me your address if you don't mind. Hopefully, comcast will be fixing my email very soon and I will e-mail you. Thinking of you all.

    Best,
    Kim

  36. I think your tissue paper wreath turned out SO cute! I've made a few coffee filter wreaths and they take for-ev-er! I kind of dread making them because they are too time consuming. I actually was going to make a heart one for V-day but never got around to it because I didn't have the time... maybe I can have it done by next year. lol :) I think your tutorial is worth sharing, I know I would be interested.

I linked up my little vignette (119). Thanks for hosting!
