Our Parents' Fall Guest Bedroom

This is our parents' guest room, which I have never actually stayed in, because when you live next door to your parents, you don't find you ever have a need to stay overnight! (Maybe that's why they were excited about becoming neighbors...) If some things look familiar, it's either because my mom and I own a lot of the same items (including clothes!) or because I brought a few of my own things down to take photos.

Our sister Dana knits these beautiful throw blankets - they are both pretty and functional, as they are very thick and cozy!

These beds originally belonged to our great Uncle Bob:

This painting also belonged to Uncle Bob, which he gave it to our mom years ago:

It is so hard to get this little spot right where you walk into the bedroom because it's set in a little corner and is always dark, and it just so happened to be overcast as it seems to be alot lately on Tuesdays! :) (Tuesdays are my picture-taking day.)

Some Simple Autumn Touches in our Family Room

Life has been pretty hectic here lately so we've been a bit missing on the blog we've been working away like crazy as we prepare for the holidays and a couple other things we have coming up that we are looking forward to sharing with you soon. Today though, I just wanted to pop in and say that I hope you all have a lovely weekend and to share one last set of autumn decorating photos of our house with you. We just added a few heirloom style pumpkins and branches cut from our yard. Nice and simple!

And here is the opposite angle of the room:

And the weather is finally starting to get cool enough in the evening to have a fire in the fireplace!

Fall Master Bedroom at Bluestone Hill

As I mentioned in my last post, I love looking at other people's fall decor, but I don't particularly love decorating my house for fall. I love the season of fall and all the fall activities that go along with it, but I just wish decorating-wise we could skip right on to Christmas! I don't think my husband is quite ready to go cut down a tree yet though...so instead I walked around our property and down the road, into the woods to find some colorful leaves that were low enough to cut for the bedroom.

The empty space above the bed has always bugged me a little bit, so I stuck a branch above it. Someone predicted it would fall on his head while he was asleep the first night, and although I was kind of hoping it would, it has yet to happen. I used a few picture hangers and secured it quite well. Maybe too well...

I still haven't gotten around to putting together our other nightstand from IKEA, so we've got a mismatching thing going on right now:

As you can see, I also haven't gotten around to adding trim to this one:

This antique desk opposite the bed was my great great uncle's and the painting above it was my great uncle Bob's. The books are mostly from random book sales, but I think a few in this stack were Uncle Bob's:
