I don't like change. I resist it like my toddler does a spoonful of spinach: I see it coming and hide my face. I have been planning this shared bedroom since before Christmas but I'm not sure if I will ever pull the trigger. I love routine and loathe transitions, and even though there are many benefits to bringing Lucie (Eloise...who we call Lucie but I like to throw her real name out there every now and then so we don't forget it) downstairs with the rest of us, I am hesitant to upset the balance when they both sleep well. So, while it may take an act of God to get me to initiate the change, the room is starting to LOOK like a shared room, if not actually be a shared room. Lucie knows the second bed is hers, but she hasn't questioned why she doesn't actually sleep in it...yet. Maybe one night she'll just say, "Mom, would you move me already?" and then I'll know it's time.
We got a second set of bedding in Goldie Dots for Lucie's bed from our sponsor Beddy's. I literally cannot say enough about how much we love this bedding. It couldn't be any more practical, and it looks so cute! It's easy to wash, easy to put on, and easy for Everly to make herself each morning...a fact which we are both very proud of!
I got these adorable pillows here at Christmastime and I've kept them through January and February. I love how they go perfectly with our "There Is Such a Place" Children's Story Print Set - probably because Lucy (MsCraftberrybush) illustrated the prints!
One of the best things about having older cousins is the hand-me-downs; Everly wears these Joyfolie shoes from Lillie and Lola every day when she plays dress up:
This teepee that Sugar Shack Teepees sent is adorable and I can't wait to see how much the girls love it but I'm waiting until after we move Lucie in to give them as a reward when they go to sleep without too much commotion (hopefully after the first night...but probably after many nights of Lucie jabbering for hours and keeping her sister up...) The girls are both as obsessed with stories as I had hoped they would be (and hoping it stays that way!) and I have a feeling this teepee is always going to be filled with books...
I was looking for the perfect print or painting to bring more pink into the room and just couldn't find what I had in my head, so I finally went ahead and tried making one myself after watching a tutorial from Lucy Akins (MsCraftberrybush)...It looks nothing like hers and isn't exactly what I was hoping for, but my critic is a three year old so it got good reviews! :) I still have my eye out, but for now, there is some pink on this wall, and I had so much fun making it!
Good morning! I hope you all have had a wonderful week. I can't believe it's already Friday! This morning I wanted to share with you all the progress we've made so far in Lola's room, but also wanted to emphasize it's not finished yet. It has a little bit more of a grown up feel right now than it hopefully will when it's finished. Because we still are still on the hunt for some colorful pillows, fun artwork to hang above her bed and a cool tent we are just using some other things we already own as placeholders until we find the right more childish type pieces. For instance above her bed we hung our newest sign and although size-wise I like how it looks there I'd like to find something a little more fun and kid-friendly. And same with a some of the accessories - for instance, I'd like to switch out the lamps and some of the pillows when we find the right ones. That being said, now that all of the main pieces are in here I thought it would be fun to share.
The starting off point for her room was this wallpaper from our sponsor, Caitlin Wilson. It's the Grande Check in French Blue and its beautiful! She picked it out herself and I absolutely positively LOVE it! I love the oversized buffalo check and how bright and cheerful it looks yet it also is still somewhat traditional feeling. I think it fits her personality so perfectly and I was so excited with how it turned out.
I love how Deann's new painting looks over Lola's desk and against the wallpaper!
We already had her main furniture pieces from our last house (the daybed, desk, and chair), but we needed to add a dresser. I looked everywhere online and locally and didn't have much luck with the size I was looking for that was still in the price range I was looking and then one afternoon when I ran into HomeGoods just to grab something real quickly I spotted this one - it was the perfect size and goes so nicely in her room. I am planning on switching out the handles for some brass ones to go with the rest of the brass accents in her room. I actually meant to do that before I took these pictures but forgot - whoops! So hopefully by the next time I photograph her room I will have remembered to. Right now we have this mirror we got from Savvy several years ago over her dresser but I may switch it out for a round one.
I've also bought a bunch of blue yard to make some pom-poms for her room and when I do I'll finally do a tutorial for them!
For Lola's bedding we once again went with our sponsor, Beddy's! I can't rave about this bedding enough. It absolutely makes such a difference in our mornings! The girls can literally make their beds in less than a minute. The minky fabric is so cozy and I love what a difference it makes on a daybed! It's nice on any bed, but on a daybed it makes a huge difference!!! We went back and forth between one of the gray options and this Chic White. Even though the gray would have been pretty too, I am glad we decided on the white because I love how it pops against the wallpaper and how it will allow us to switch up the pillows. If you use the code DEARLILLIE20 you can get 20% off your order. (We have now used Beddy's bedding in Lillie's new room, in our friends' little girls' room, in Lillie's room at our last house, in Lola's room at our last house, and Jamie used the bedding in Everly's room. We are huge fans!)
Well, that's it for today! I'll be back either Sunday or Monday with some pictures of our dining room now that our chandelier is up.
I hope you all have an amazing weekend! Go Tribe!

We aren't finished yet, but we've made enough progress in Lillie's room that we figured we would share what we've done in there so far! This was one of the rooms that was a nice blank canvas - beige walls, beige carpet and creamy trim. As I mentioned yesterday, the couple who bought our last home bought some of our furniture as well, including Lillie's bed, so one of the first things we did even before we moved in was look for a new bed for her.
She fell in love with this one from our sponsor, Birch Lane and I loved it too so that made the decision nice and easy! I love that it is such a classic design and the neutral color will allow it to go with a variety of design and colors as she grows!
The next thing we decided on was the wallpaper. I picked out a whole bunch for her and Lola to look through and they decided which one they liked best for each of their rooms. Lillie first chose a floral pattern but changed her mind to this soft pink buffalo check from Spoonflower. Ironically Lola chose a buffalo check as well, although I different size and color- ha! I love buffalo check but have to admit I wasn't planning on it going in both of their rooms. However, I have to say they each fit their personalities perfectly and we love how this beautiful paper looks. I also love when you order on Spoonflower you can custom choose the length of your pieces! They have sooooooo many options to choose from and you can also custom design your own wallpaper!
Another fun thing we added to her room was this hanging chair. She had seen one this summer and loved it so we got her one for her birthday. They were having a Black Friday sale so it was perfect timing. There's a weird mix of chain in these photos, sorry! I took these right before we left for our Christmas vacation, but since we have gotten back I have fixed it so it's just one more simple looking chain. The cozy rug is from HomeGoods - we got it for her last room and transitioned in here (although it may ultimately end up in Lola's room).
And then the other new item we added was this mini tufted sofa from hayneedle. It is so ridiculously cute!!!! I love the tufting details and the quality of it! We were originally going to put it in the playroom but it worked so perfectly in her bedroom I think we are going to keep it in here!
Pretty much everything else moved over from our last house, like her desk and bunny ears desk chair. And this deer painting was in Lola's room before but seeing how her new room has "no pink!" we decided it would look cute in here. I think proportionally speaking it needs a frame if we are going to keep it here or we may move it to another spot but for now it's fine like this.
I think by now you all know how much we LOVE Beddy's bedding. We have used their bedding in our friend's little girls' room, in Lillie's last room, in Lola's last room (and her new room, but we haven't finished that yet), and Jamie used this same Goldie Dot design in Everly's room! We would not be using it over and over if we did not absolutely positively LOVE it! I seriously can't say enough good things about it! It is the most amazing bedding for kids (and honestly, not just kids!) because it keeps them all snuggled in at night and it is SO EASY for them to make their beds the next morning - they literally just zip it up! My girls' can make their beds in about thirty seconds!
The nightstands were the ones we used in our master bedroom at our last house. They were the perfect size for what I was looking for in her room so I just painted them with some extra Simple White paint that I had leftover from painting some of the trim downstairs. They are just a simple Ikea hack - you can read more about them in this post here.
We've done a lot of musical lamps since moving in and trying to decide which lamps work best in each new room. Although I liked these ones from HomeGoods in here I think they worked best in our bedroom so they ended up back in there and I want to find something more whimsical for in her room.
Ignore the curtain rods. They are going to be replaced - probably with white ones and these ones are going to go downstairs but when I went to hang her draperies these were the only ones I had on hand, and now that they are up I keep forgetting about it until I look at pictures - ha! The unicorn head and pom pom wreath moved from the door in her last room to center position for now in her new room!
I am planning on hanging the sign but I just wanted to make sure I was positive on where I was going to hang it before I did so I didn't put too many holes in the new wallpaper right away - ha! I am sure over time I will end up putting lots and lots of holes in these walls but to start with I am taking it slow with hanging things in most of the rooms. Although I've thought about hanging it over her desk, I think we are probably going to end up putting it over the tufted sofa.
And here are some wide angle shots - sorry for all the lens warping!
Here is what the room looked like a couple of days after we moved in before we started doing any decorating. As you can see, it was a nice blank slate. Nothing to undo, just a little boring.
