O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!

America! America!

A Little Peek at Our Guest Room, New Art and a New Print

When we switched the bedrooms this winter so that the girls could each have their own room the remaining items ended up in here in our guest room. I didn't love the white headboard against the white wall so I thought I would possibly try to recover the headboard or maybe paint the walls. I decided to paint the walls because I thought it would be a little more fun that way, and if I hated it, it's pretty easy to just paint them again a lighter colors. I am still working on this room (for instance I am switching out the nightstands for round wood ones that I am really excited about and switching up the bedding a little bit) but I thought I would show a little peek of how it's looking.

The first thing I did was paint the walls Nightfall in an eggshell finish from Benjamin Moore. Then I added some black buffalo check drapery panels from Country Curtains. I went with the 96" length and love how they look. I like that they keep the room from getting too modern or formal looking and they have great weight to them. I'll have some better photos of them when we share the whole room! It was raining the day I took these so they are pretty grainy. I am thinking about getting the larger gingham check for our dining room - they are so beautiful!  And then I hung this chandelier. I love the dainty size of it for this room. And I like the touch of gold it adds to coordinate with the gold lamps I found at HomeGoods.

I love this Portrait of Josephine Gaujelin. I am not sure I like her on that wall though. I think I may move her over near the desk area. And I am playing around with some mirrors in here. I haven't decided which one I am going to end up using. This round wood one is from HomeGoods. I love the size and the round shape but don't think the overall look will be quite right, but I am not positive yet.

And then over on this wall I hung our new artwork from Deann Art. This one is called Courage to Bloom (make sure to scroll down past the originals which are sold out, to the gallery wrapped canvas options which are available in several different sizes!) I actually think I love this piece even more than our angel one which I can't believe I am saying. I absolutely LOVE the colors and the overall feel of it! And I LOVE how it looks against the dark walls. However, after a few days of it hanging in here I got a little sad about it because I don't go in this room all that often, so I didn't really get to enjoy it so I ended up moving it downstairs to a spot I get to enjoy it in all day long.  I'll share some pictures of where it ended up in the next post. And then we added a standing lamp from HomeGoods because I had stolen the one we used to have in here to use in Lillie's new room.

I can't wait to share full room shots once it's finished!

And lastly here's our newest print just in time for summer! It's another one of our favorite F. Scott Fitzgerald quotes:

Some Autumn Items Back in Stock

With August half way over it's time for us to start getting ready for autumn so we are introducing our newest print and also have started restocking several of our fall items. First, here is our newest print with a quote by  Emily Brontë "Every leaf speaks bliss to me, falling from the autumn tree."
I drew that on a chalkboard several years ago but at the time we weren't selling prints so I just now finally rewrote it so we could make them into prints.

We also wanted to let you know our hand-painted oversized "Enter His Gates" Signs will be available in our shop today (Thursday, August 13th) at 10AM EST. We think this works great for the fall with Thanksgiving coming but is also a great verse to have up as a reminder year round. You can find size info and other details on the product page.

and our "Life starts all over again..." canvas is now available:

As well as the print (and also the download)

And this autumn print is available now as well too!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday and a beautiful weekend ahead!

A Mix of Things (Some New/Old Books for the Study, Dining Room Artwork, and a New Chalkboard Print)

Well, I got our master bathroom mini makeover finished up and photographed but I still haven't finished going through the photos yet or writing up the post so hopefully I will have that post ready for Friday.  Seeing how it's not ready I figured I would share a mix of some photos I've taken over the last week or two that don't really belong in their own post but I figured I could kind of put them all together here this morning. =)

First, over the last several months we've added quite a few new books to our bookshelves in this room. We've had books passed down or given as gifts from both sides of the family and it has been so special adding them into the shelves. I hope slowly over the years we will continue to add books that have meaning to us or that are passed on down until all the shelves are full. It brings such a smile to my face whenever I walk into this room and see some of these books that hold different memories for me. We've also moved around a few things and are going to start adding in some more of our sports memorabilia and go with a more masculine feel in here (except for the flowers - ha!)

You can see more photos of this room here and find a full source list here. I didn't take any full room shots of it this time because the girls have taken over the whole floor to "build" a rocket ship out of a big cardboard box. =)

Another room I switched around a bit in the last week or two was the dining room. After I painted it Kendall Charcoal I played around with some black and white artwork in here but even though I loved how it looked against the dark walls I didn't think it flowed quite right with the rest of the downstairs so I moved those back upstairs and tried this oil painting in here and added the oversized clock back to the wall between the windows.  The oil painting is particularly special to me as it was my grandfather's and then my moms but she knew how much I had always loved it and gave it to me.

I think I may eventually move the clock into our family room and add another piece of artwork to that wall but who knows.

Well, that's it for today's rambling mix. =) I should be back Friday with our little bathroom makeover.
