I love this shot of the tulips that Jamie took!
Earlier this month Jamie made a new Roman Shades for her breakfast nook to match the one she made a couple of months ago for her kitchen. She made them out of a drop cloth and then just taped off the lines and then painted them in with some brown paint. I have to say when she first sent me a picture of them (back in November) I liked them but didn't love them. Then when we went up in December to visit I saw them in real life and LOVED them! It's funny how some things can look so much better in photographs than real life, and other things look so much better in real life than in photos. I actually think Jamie did a great job of photographing them (I took some photos back in December and wasn't happy at all with them) but still, I wish you all could see them in person because they are fabulous.
Also our "Love Is" 18x18 Pillow Cover Sets are back in stock!
And lastly, I wanted to thank you all for your e-mails and comments full of encouragement after yesterday's post. That meant so much to us. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

I love these shades. The drop cloth was a fantastic choice but the stripes are really what makes these look so great. Ironically enough, over the past month I've been considering making roman shades for our living room and have been on the hunt for a good tutorial. Now I'm definitely inspired! I would love to see her tutorial on how she made these. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteThis is the tutorial I used for the faux Roman Shade:

Thank you so much for sharing the tutorial. I haven't tried the roman shades yet, but I did test the idea out on a table runner and I love it!

ReplyDeleteHi!
DeleteI got the wicker tray at White Home Collections (www.whitehomecollections.com), this great place here in NH with a mix of new and antique items. I think they just started selling online so there are only 3 items listed, but hopefully there will be many more online options available soon!
Thanks,
Jamie

Thank You! :)
DeleteThe shades are cool but I had a hard time focusing on them because I was too distracted by her beautiful dark wood door - I love it! We are in the middle of remodeling our kitchen and I would love to have that door going out to our backyard.

Cozy breakfast nook and great looking roman shades. How crafty! LOVE those cup and saucers too! Mind if I ask the maker of those pretty dishes? Looking to purchase new white dishes after my spring cleaning of the kitchen.

I fell in love with the roman shade back when you first shared them. Your brother is such a sweetie, he emailed Jamie, so I could find out where she purchased her fabric, little did I know, it was a drop cloth and she created the stripes with paint. Have the drop cloth and paint, can't wait to get them finished! Enjoy your weekend...Shelley

Hi Katie,
DeleteI made them from the old curtain material and burlap.
Thanks!
Jamie
I just love the shades, the house looks lovely. I just did over a window pane just like yours! The space really looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI read how to do the shade after finding a spot to do one. What color of paint did you use on the shade?
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,

Thanks,
Jamie
