Lillie's Almost Finished New Room

First, let me just say we are definitely not finished with Lillie's new room but we've made enough progress in here that we figured we at least share what we've done so far. The first thing we did was switch the beds from the two guest rooms. Honestly for about 2-3 weeks I kept trying to coming up with a plan that made it so we could keep the guest beds in the rooms that they were already in because I was dreading taking the two beds apart (well, technically the white tufted one is quite easy, but this canopy one is a nightmare!) but deep down I knew that I would always kick myself that I didn't take the time to switch them. This room made more sense to be Lillie's room due to the overall layout of our house but the bed that was in here was a queen size and we wanted to keep the queen size bed for our guests seeing how we have a lot of family that visit quite regularly. So, about two weeks ago I finally went ahead and spent the day taking the beds apart and moving a bunch of the furniture and I am so glad that I did.

Once we had the furniture switched it was time to have some fun. We tried to use mostly all furniture we already had in the two guest rooms but because that all had a more "grown-up" type feel to it so we tried to make it still feel child-like and whimsical with the addition of the wallpaper and some of the accessories. I think think is my new favorite wallpaper! It's from Wallpaper Direct and you can find it here. We just did one wall to start with but Lillie and I both love it so much I think we will probably end up doing her whole room with it.

I had been eyeing a small gold chandelier to add in here but then we took the chandelier down from the room she and Lola had been sharing because we are putting a basketball hoop in there now that it is just Lola's room (well, at least that's the plan - we spent quite a bit of time working on that the last few days but haven't quite finished it yet so are not completely sure it's going to work - ha!) Seeing how there was no way a basketball and a chandelier would mix it made sense to move it in here. Plus this was the chandelier my parent's bought for Lillie's nursery when I was pregnant for her so it was sweet to be able to add it in here. We kept the basic white bedding and pom pom trimmed bedskirt that was already on this bed but then added some beautiful shams and a gorgeous ruffled duvet from Land of Nod that we were perfect way to add some of the pink that Lillie loves in here. We already had the black and white pillows that we bought at Target several years ago and the two side table/nightstands we've had for years as well. I'm not a huge fan of how the silver one looks in here as we are using mostly gold accents so I will either paint it white or move it into another room and add a boxier type piece.

The curtains were already in here so we just added some pom pom trim that we bought at Joann's to make it feel a little more fun. The dresser was already in this room. We got it from Joss and Main several years ago. We removed the handles and spray painted them gold to go with the other gold accents in the room. The lamp was from a thrift store years ago and we just swapped it out from the other guest room when we did the switch.

The chair was already in this room and originally I wasn't planning on keeping it in here because it felt a little too grown up, however I have already walked in several times in the last few days to find Lillie snuggled up in the chair reading so I think we actually will leave it in there. We added this cute little pillow and pink tufted poof both from Land of Nod to help make it feel more fun. And she found this fuzzy cozy rug at HomeGoods and it worked out perfectly in there.

We found this cute little heart garland with lights at Target and the horse bookend is from HomeGoods. The mirror is from a consignment shop and we've had it for years and years. I'd like to put an oval mirror or something a little more narrow up there eventually but for now this is good. I love the trophy urn from the Arrow's Nest.

Lillie has turned into such a reader and is almost finished with the Samantha series. My sister's and I loved the American Girl books when we were little and I loved that my mom saved ours so now Lillie can read them.

You can see part of Lillie new desk chair with the bunny ears that we got during big sale right after Christmas at Pottery Barn Teen. I'll have more pictures of it and that whole wall once we've finished that section of her room.

The desk was a floor model piece on huge clearance from Pottery Barn Kids after Christmas (we'll share more pictures of this side of the room once it's done). And the heart marquee and little dog tape dispenser are both from Target. We made her little pinboard from a frame we had in the attic and some extra fabric. It still needs a little work though.

The sign was one we made and carried in our shop this fall but not one we currently have listed.

We made this little  bunny pillow by copying one of the little characters from the wallpaper. I messed up when I was sewing the ears and they are way taller and skinnier than how I had originally sketched them out - whoops! Oh well.

Lillie's favorite part of her room is definitely her desk. She's been asking for a desk for what seems like forever and has spent hours on end sitting there working on all her sketches and "scripts" and stories she loves to write. But I think her second favorite is this little heart shaped pin board we found at Target that she leaves little notes on about a hundred times a day - haha!
That's all for now. We are still plugging away on the one bare wall (the wall on the right when you walk in that's not shown in any of these images) where we are planning on doing a gallery type wall with several Sound of Music posters/pictures and some of her other favorite photos and probably some of her artwork as well. We are still playing around with it and figuring out just how much we can get up there - ha! And then we are working on the wall with her desk. And hopefully we will end up wallpapering the whole room. However, even though it's definitely not finished, it's nice to have it well on it's way!

And yes, we are making over Lola's room a little bit too now that it is her very own room and will share images from her room in another week or two once we've made a little more progress.

    1. We did make that sign in our shop this past year, but unfortunately it was not a very popular item, and we had to reduce the price by quite a bit in order to sell all of the ones that we made.
