Our Almost Finished Master Bathroom Makeover with Before and Afters

Although we still have a few finishing touches to add (like a door for the shower and some artwork for the walls) our master bathroom is basically finished! We thought this was going to be one of our first big projects that we would tackle when we first moved in three years ago but we kept moving other projects ahead of it so it ended up being our last big project - ha! We were thrilled to be able to partner up with Wayfair for this project. They have such a huge selection to choose from.  I am so glad to finally have it behind us and am so happy with how it turned out.

Because the space was on the small side we decided to stick with a really light palette to help make it feel more airy and spacious. Here is a little reminder of what it looked like when we moved in:

And here it is now, almost finished:

Another before shot:

And another almost finished after:

I knew I wanted to go with a vanity with a marble top to go with the marble floors but I was a bit torn on whether or not I wanted to go with a white base or a gray one. Then I found this vanity from Wayfair and fell in love with the dark charcoal color! I also loved the open storage space below it that works perfectly for towel storage seeing how we don't have a linen closet in this room.

My girls favorite thing in the new bathroom are the oval mirrors with the medicine cabinets. They think they are "magic mirrors" and they are fascinated that they open up and have a hidden spot to store things. I love that when they open they have mirrors on the back side and inside the cabinet as well! It was such a surprise and such a practical feature.

Although the footprint of the bathroom stayed the same we were able to enlarge the shower quite a bit due to the way the old shower was designed. We absolutely love our new shower system! (We did use a different handle due to something with our plumbing that I don't understand). The rain head is so soothing!

We added some fun accessories from HomeGoods:

I absolutely love the marble hex floor. We used it on both the main floor and the shower floor to help visually make the space seem larger. I had originally planned on using marble tile in the shower as well but to keep the cost down went with basic white subway tile. I love how crisp and clean it feels!

I love the simple and traditional feel of of this toilet - I wish I could get a better photo of it but it's hard to get at the right angle.

  10. Love this bathroom makeover. Curious about the color of the vanity...? Would you say this is a true charcoal gray or does it have a lot of blue? Would love this but not if you blue!!! Thanks for any input!

  11. Beautiful! We want to do something similar on our bathroom! The current shower is SO small- so we want to remove the whirlpool tub (which makes a scary cracking sound now if we step into it) and turn that area into a shower- and turn the small current shower into some built in storage. I would ask about how they did the bottom of the shower- if it was custom and about how much that cost, but I'm sure the cost would vary greatly regionally!! :)

  12. I absolutely love the remolding you did to your bathroom! The before and after pictures are breathtaking. To be honest, I didn't even recognize this was the same bathroom. I love the charcoal color. I also love the hex marble floor. I think the oval mirrors are so unique especially since they are medicine cabinets. Great job!

  13. Question- how do you like the open shower now that you are using it?

    1. Hi, Susie! They never actually ended up using it open. They had the space measured for a glass door, but then because they were moving decided to just put up a curtain rod.

  15. Hi, do you remember the brand of the oval Medicine cabinet from overstock? They are sold out and the link just brings me to overstock site not that mirror?

    1. Hi, Jeanette! They were from Wayfair, but unfortunately this bathroom is in Jenni's old home so she isn't able to check and see if there is any brand information marked somewhere on them.

  16. Good morning....can you please tell me why you did not tile the ceiling of shower. We are remodeling our shower but were planning on tile on the ceiling. Maybe not necessary???!! Thank you, Brandi Martin

    1. Hi, Brandi! Jenni just preferred the look without the ceiling tiled in this space. If you are indifferent on the appearance, I would recommend checking with your contractor to see if he or she recommends it for your space.
