In the middle of December (I think it was December 15th) I took all of our Christmas decorations down seeing how I knew that when we returned from NH it would be mid January it would be the last thing in the world I would want to do. Plus all of our fresh greenery would have been completely dry and probably have made a huge mess. Lillie was a bit confused why were packing it all away when there was still ten more days until Christmas (and I am sure our neighbors were too, since I had put our tree up in early November - haha, I think they must all think we are crazy) but I was so glad we did it because it certainly was nice to walk through the door after a fourteen hour trip to a clean, blank canvas. Once everything was down, everything looked so bare and I decided I was getting kind of bored with the layout as it was and that it might be fun to play around with it a bit. After trying a few different things I ended up with this. Although I have to say I liked the other way a bit better, it is nice to switch it up every once in a while and this way really makes the space feel more open and larger.
Our "Love is..." pillow cover sets are available in our shop.
I was excited to add our 2012 Family Albums! I wrote a post on our 2011 here and will do another one soon on this year's books!
This was the layout we had before:
So it's still pretty similar. I tried putting the couch opposite the mantel but it was just a hair to close to the door which was disappointing because I liked the look of that best.
We also are offering this year our Je T'aime pillow covers in the 12 by 20 size in white ink!
And we have just restocked our Valentine's Silhouette pillow covers and they are on sale!
And here's my little photo bomber. She was dancing around while I took these photos and I had to try to not get a flash of purple in just about every shot! =)
I hope you all have a beautiful rest of the week!
I like switching things around too...although now I am rarely home and so it is not as dull to me as it used to get and I would find the need to change things up.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your house in big wide shots like this is fun for me...too often we only get to see tight shots. So this was fun to see. It all looks beautiful and serene. I am guessing you keep some kids junk in that covered wicker basket! Lola looked tiny next to the stairs~she is precious.
I find your home so soothing Jennifer. I think your new layout is rather beautiful :-) Change is great every once in awhile , no?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
Cheers, Gee
So pretty
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter what way you arrange the room it is still beautiful. We all need a little change.
ReplyDeleteI think re arranging your furniture was a smart idea, it looks so refreshed, all ready for spring ;). Your little one is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the photos of your revised furniture arrangement...you are right, it is good to change things up every now and then. I like having a spare look too in January after the visual "busy-ness" of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteyour home always looks gorgeous. I love how you've styled your mantel! We are going through a transformation in our living room, too, and I can't wait to get our furniture that we've ordered and start 'playing' =)
ReplyDeleteYour living room looks lovely and peaceful Jennifer. The new pillows are terrific (and that cute little flash of purple just adds to the photos).
ReplyDeleteI recently made some projects with your Jane Austen silhouette. Thanks so much for all that you share. Especially your talents!

Beautiful, Jennifer!!! You are a constant inspiration! LOVE your style!
ReplyDeleteI have to ask you a question because just recently I had to babysit a 2 year old. BUT I have recently started incorporating your style of decor in my own home, and I love it! However - he was all over EVERYTHING! Touching, pushing, picking up.... I had to take all my beautiful decor OFF the hutch, the dining room table, side tables, and counters because he just destroyed it all. MY QUESTION: How do you keep such a beautiful home with 2 little ones? Is it your style of parenting that they know not to touch? Since he isn't my child, and isn't used to my home I know he doesn't know better. But I'm hoping that in the future when I have kids, I can have a beautiful home like yours AND have kids! lol! Thanks for any insight!
Haha! I think kids find things far more fascinating at other people's houses. The girls are really good at home about not touching the things they aren't supposed to and honestly we have very few things that are actually breakable so there aren't a whole lot of things that are off limits so they handful of things that they are not allowed to touch Lillie's really good about and Lola's learning. =) Once we go visit other people though they are always fascinated and I feel like I spend the whole time saying "Don't touch!"=)
DeleteOne word! WOW...beautiful...adore your style. Thanx for sharing. Tiff

ReplyDeleteBeautiful..
ReplyDeleteYour home always looks so warm and inviting and lived in..
Hi, I love the new look, I really like switching things up.
ReplyDeleteJen I need your opinion.
I recently had white plantation shutters installed in my living room they are the cafe style. However, I was thinking of hanging a panel on either side of the window. What do you think?
Thank you!
I don't think you can ever go wrong with panels!
DeleteThank you for your reply.
DeleteI love the open look of your refreshed living room! The touches of greenery are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWat een prachtig huis. I love it.

Hi Jennifer, The look of your living room is so inviting. Could you please tell me where you purchased the two silver urns that are on your mantel? I have been looking for something similar...Shelley
ReplyDeletemcardle4atcenturyteldotnet
Thanks, Shelley! They are from a store in Williamsburg called Seasons. I got them about four years ago on 75% clearance.
DeleteThank you for the information!
DeleteI have also been looking for silver urns and have had no luck...who made/makes them??
DeleteYour home is so lovely. And I can't believe you made that tufted ottoman! Oh it's so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful.....although I think whatever way you arrange it, it looks gorgeous. Your house is lovely and elegant. And, what a cute little purple photo bomber you have! She looks like she is giving a tour of the house. Cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I was curious as to the size of your couch....length. It looks like a 72 0r 78 not a standard length.Perhaps the picture makes it look smaller. I am looking for a 72 or 78 inch couch and having a difficult time, I like the look of yours, simple but yet it looks comfortable just the style I am looking for. I live in an old farmhouse and my tv room has 2 doors, 2 windows plus a double door entryway into the living room, my space is limited and a regular size couch is too big plus I can't switch around easily. If your couch is 72 or 78, what is the brand? Thanks! Mickey I do like your room arrangement.
ReplyDeleteHi Mickey! I am pretty sure that sofa is 72". We've had it for about 6 years and it's from Lee Industries. They are quite pricey - we were able to get ours at cost which was about 1/3 of the retail price, which was nice. Otherwise it would have been way out of our price range.
DeleteIt's beautiful - both ways!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful .. Love it all .. One day I would love to feature something of yours on my blog.. The Rusty Pearl.. WOULD that be okay ? I just love your blog ... HUGS and blessings for a wonderful week
ReplyDeleteLooks great <3
ReplyDeleteLooks SO nice! :) I like especially the "french touch" you have made:) also the colors match beautifully:)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for the rest of the week.

Love the new arrangement! Change is always good...my husband use too say that he would never come home at night without the lights on because the bed may not be in the same place. As always, love your post including the flash of purple!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day, Jen!
So pretty as always. I so enjoy reading your sweet blog. Hope you can share this post on Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMany blessings....Brooke
