A Vintage Style Rug for Our Family Room

Today I wanted to show you the family room side of this space with our new rug that added the finishing touch. When I first saw this Villa Rug on our sponsor, ESaleRugs website, I thought it would be perfect for our master bedroom, however when it arrived I saw how it looked in our family room and realized I loved it even more in here! The 9 by 12 size was the perfect size for this space. I love the vintage look of it and the mix of blues, grays, beiges and creams. The vintage/worn patterned look is my favorite because I love the dimension it adds plus it helps hide stains which is great for a high traffic area. I also like having thin rugs in spaces like this so there's not really much of a change from the wood to the rug and it's easier for me to move myself. ESaleRugs also has lots of other beautiful options to choose from.

You can see a little peek of our coffee bar area over in the corner of this picture. We will have a post with more details of that in a couple of weeks.

I love the different patterns and colors in the rug:

A Rug For Our Kitchen

We have had the floor bare in the kitchen for quite a while now but I kept thinking it would be nice to try and add something in here to add a little warmth to the space. We found this rug at Rugs Studio and even though it had a plum accent color in it instead of the navy I was hoping for I decided to give it a try  because I loved the vintage style pattern of it. The first day it arrived I was a little unsure, but by day two I absolutely loved it! I loved the way the pattern flows and the different colors - the grays, browns, plums and charcoals. Plus in a kitchen it will hide lots of stains - ha!

We also played around with a couple of other different ones including this plaid one. I loved how this one looked but was afraid it might show stains pretty easily and seeing how the girls love baking and cooking I decided against it.

And we also tried this smaller blue one. I absolutely LOVED the color of this one. The blues were so pretty and the pattern was beautiful. However, I didn't like the smaller size quite as well in here (they have it in a larger size as well, but at the time I was looking the larger size was on back order although I think it is available now).

A New Loloi Rug and Some Blue Added to Jamie and Josh's Family Room

One of the first projects my sister Jamie tackled when they moved into their new home this winter was painting all of the trim, beams and the kitchen cabinets. They were a brilliant blue color that worked wonderfully for our Uncle Bob's style but were a little bold for Jamie and Josh's style. Once she had painted the trim white (which was quite the project!) and had their existing brown and taupe furniture in here it looked pretty, but it felt a little dreary with all of the blue that was so reminiscent of our Uncle being completely gone. We decided that if they bought a white slipcover for their sofa and painted the walls blue, it would be easy to add blue back into the room with the addition of accessories.

This gorgeous rug from Loloi's Florence Collection was a great starting point in adding blue into the space. We went with the 9'6" by 13' size and it fits this room so beautifully! Loloi rugs are so incredibly soft which is great because they have a three year old and one year old and this is the room they spend the most time in, so being able to play on a soft cozy rug is ideal and the fact that it is also stunning makes it a great option for a family room. It has blues, grays and creams all mixed in and has such a subtle mix of the colors to it. It also has kind of a vintage feel which we love and which goes really well in this house and the many antiques sprinkled throughout it.

A navy ottoman, pillows and artwork all helped add blue back into the room (we will share more about those items in the next post where we will have lots more full room shots).

You can see the beautiful details of the rug here. We highly recommend Loloi! They were so incredibly wonderful to work with and the rug is not only beautiful but such a high quality. It's even more beautiful in person.

Most of all I know that not only for Jamie and Josh, but for our whole family we absolutely love walking into this room - it feels fresh and updated for their young family but also still has that subtle feeling of our beloved Uncle and his love for blue. I can't wait to share some full room shots with parts of the kitchen in the next post. And as Jamie continues to make progress on more of their spaces we will continuing sharing! I absolutely love how it's all coming together. Oh and if you are wondering where the other rug that was in here went - don't worry. It's now in their master bedroom where it looks amazing. Jamie's made quite a bit of progress in there although it's not quite finished. Once it is I can't wait to share that room with you.
