Happy Weekend and an Irish Blessing Chalkboard Print

I hope your weekend is off to a lovely start! I just wanted to stop in this morning and let you know we have a new print available in our shop. This one is the old Gaelic Blessing, "May the road rise up to meet you..." We created this one in honor of St. Patrick's Day but it's still a nice one to have out year round, especially if you have a whole lot of Irish blood in you like we do! =) Here you can see it displayed in our guest room:

Kendall Charcoal in our Dining Room

I hope you all have had a lovely weekend. When we first started making over this room I knew I wanted to wallpaper the upper half of the walls but I couldn't find anything that was quite right so I just quickly painted the walls a light color so at least they has something. (You can see lighter color here). I actually ended up really loving the light color (Gray Owl at 75%) so I didn't mind it being up for a while. In fact if you are looking for a light gray with a bluish undertone I would highly recommend it. It's one of my favorite colors and I would use it again in a heartbeat.

After hunting for a year and a half now I still haven't quite found what I want for wallpaper in this room. (I have for other rooms, if you look under the "Our Home" tab up top you can see we've wallpapered the girls room, the playroom and two bathrooms and also the bedroom in NH). So, this past week I decided to at least finally paint the walls a darker color to give it a little more of a bold look. I used Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore which has always been one of my favorites colors.  I used their Aura line in a matte finish. We used this same color in our master bedroom quite a few years ago at our last house and then in Jason's home office. And we also have painted a couple pieces of furniture with it.

Once I painted the walls I took some of our black and white images from some other rooms and used them in here to go with the dark walls. However, about an hour after I took these pictures I ended up changing things around. Although I love how they look against the dark walls I didn't really like how they looked with out furniture. It felt like the styles competed too much with each other. I played around with it some more though and got rid of all the black and white images and brought in an oil painting and a new sign and now I think I like it much better.  I'll try to take some photos in the next week or so once I finish tweaking it and share them. For now though you can at least see the darker walls!
