Well, I finally have some photos of the chairs with their painted legs and of a few other things we did to "spruce up" the living room. Eventually I would like to replace the legs on these chairs entirely but for now the paint and wax at least helps make them more appealing. I used Shenandoah Taupe by Benjamin Moore for the paint and then added some of Annie Sloan's Dark Wax over the top. We also sort of got a new lamp. I actually ordered it for Jason's house back during our last Joss and Main event but on accident put in my shipping address (honestly, it wasn't on purpose!) and now I kind of want to keep it. =)
I hope you all are having a lovely Monday!
You have a lovely living room, Jennifer and I like your changes very much.
ReplyDeleteSo will you be hosting another Joss and Main event again? How does that work?
Thanks, Michele! We don't have a date for another one at this time but I think we will be hosting another one again at some point! I hope you are doing well!
DeleteOhhhhhh...I can just hear Jason now!! ;)
ReplyDeleteSimply Beautiful! ~Angela @hickorytrailblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful, as always! However, to be honest when I saw the lamp right away I thought the lines of it just didn't flow with everything else and it looks a little masculine, probably perfect for Jason :) Not trying to be negative, just sharing a design opinion, take it or leave it! You always do such an amazing job!!!
ReplyDeletePlease shar the details on your new pillows. I love them all. In fact I love the entire room. It is very fresh and clean looking for spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The new ones on the sofa are from Home Goods! I love them!
DeleteLooks gorgeous, love your chairs too!
ReplyDeleteLovely! But how do you keep them clean?!? I struggle with that constantly!
ReplyDeleteYour living room is stunning! I love the white chairs and sofa. So soft and romantic looking. If you get a chance, please link this to my sunday linky party going on now: http://suburbsmama.blogspot.com/2013/04/sunday-linky-party-3.html

Beautiful and serene... and so upscale, Jennifer! My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days in Williamsburg last week. We so love your area!!!
ReplyDeleteKeep the lamp, it looks at home!
Jennifer your living room always looks beautiful! I love the new look on your mantle...the plants in the silver urns look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love your dining room, and every time you make a change, I love it even more! The legs go so well with the "accidental" lamp, which, by the way, goes very well with the mirror....just saying ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't believe what a difference you were able to make in those legs! Great work.
ReplyDeleteCan you do a tutorial for how you did the legs on the chairs? I have a sofa that has dark wood legs and a topper piece that I need to refinish and I want exactly the look you did!!! I hope it wasn't too hard :)
ReplyDeleteIt was nice and easy, Meghan! I just painted the legs first and then once they were dry I just used a paper towel (because I was lazy - I normally use a piece of jersey knit fabric) and wiped the the wax on and that was it!
DeleteI love the chairs, can you share where you purchased them?:)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I got them at TJMaxx!
DeleteI just seen your chairs today & was so bummed ours only had one!!:( I Just may have to hurry back and get it ;) I luv the painted legs vs. non..
DeleteOhhh, i'd forgotten that slipcovered ottoman - i really love it in the living room, and that striped lampshade, and lamp, yummy, i need to copy that idea. Love the mossy balls with the silver urns too... Always that touch of green that is sooo perfect with your decor.

Hang on a sec...that slipcover looks different! Didn't it have ruffles before? And the fabric looks textured...??
ReplyDeleteLeah: )
Haha - good eye. This is the original slipcover I made for that ottoman. I showed it way back a couple of years ago but the first time I washed it the pleats got messed up and I was way to lazy to iron them all out nicely again. Seeing how we had not used the ottoman in a while I somehow lost the other slipcover and had to pull this one out. I ended up stapling the pleated ruffle down though to avoid having to iron it. =)
DeleteI tried to leave a comment to enter for the drawing, but it wouldn't let me. I ended up clicking on"I commented", which I didn't because I couldn't. I love your blog, your home, the photos you post and your products. I requested a "Silent Night " pillow for Christmas and was delighted to receive it! I absolutely adore the oversize growth chart, though my children are grown, the grandchildren would love it! I hope I am entered through my email.
ReplyDeleteI love the legs this way. Your living room always looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI looked at Joss & Main and was unable to find your lovely new lamp. Please help me figure out how I can purchase one just like it. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteJoss and Main has sales that only last a few days so you have to purchase an item during the "event". You might be able to find the lamp on wayfair.com though!
