Final Before and After Upstairs, Porch and Back Yard of Our Last House

I hope you all are having a wonderful start to your January! We are finally back home after a lot of holiday traveling and I can't wait to get back to work on our new home. We got back late Monday evening and yesterday I got all of the Christmas decor taken down and then lugged it all back up to the attic and then got unpacked and organized from our trip, did tons and tons of laundry and hung our new chandelier in our dining room that had arrived while we were gone. It felt so good to get all of that done so I can now have a clean slate to get back to work on. Now today I can't wait to back to painting! Actually, I hate painting, haha! But I can't wait to just get back to making over some more of the spaces in our new home. I can't decide if I am going to paint and stain the new counter in our laundry room or start painting my office, or tackle painting the front door and the doors in the hallway...

First though I wanted to share the final before and afters of the upstairs of our last home. It's killing me having to rewrite this entire post - ha! I had written one long post Sunday evening that I spent over four hours on and somehow it got lost so I quickly rewrote the downstairs Before and Afters and posted that Monday and now today will share the upstairs ones.

First up is our Master Bedroom. This is actually is one of the more simple makeovers up here. It was just painting all the trim, doors, and windows and then the walls and then the fun decorating part. We actually changed things around a fair amount in here like pillows, bedding, dressers and rugs, but here are my favorite photos of it:

*sorry about how wonky all of the fonts are throughout this post. I have tried everything and it's just not cooperating - ugh!

Our master bathroom was one of our biggest makeovers and it took us three years to finally do it! We just did it this past summer just a few months before we moved - ha! We did a little mini makeover though about a year or so after moving in to help it feel a little bit cleaner. Here is the before:

And here was the very inexpensive mini makeover we did while we saved up and decided on what we wanted to do for our big makeover (you can read more about the mini makeover in this post here)

and then here is our final makeover in here. Even though it had same square footage it felt so much more spacious:

Another before shot:

And another almost finished after:

And that's it! We dearly loved that home but it is in wonderful new hands. The couple who bought it made the entire selling process incredibly easy and are so sweet and we are excited to start a new chapter in our new home. As we mentioned in a previous post our new home is actually extremely similar to this one. In fact the first time I saw it I walked right back out because I had no interest in buying a house that had such a similar kitchen and family room (they are almost identical - ha!) but after having another house fall through on us and not being able to find anything else that quite was what we were looking for and running out of time before we had to be out of ours we ended up giving it another look and it met most of the main requirements we were looking for which had mostly to do with a flatter/safer driveway and front lawn situation so we ended up pulling the trigger on it. But it may make it confusing when we share some of the spaces as they look rather similar - ha!

Now that were are back from our holiday traveling we are so excited to really dig into making over each space in our new home! We will be back later this week with a little peek at what we've done in our dining room and then this weekend I hope to have a post up with Lillie's new room! And if you missed some of the posts we have shared so far of our new home you can see our new entryway here, our new master bedroom here, and our new living room here. And you can also follow us on instagram on our Dear Lillie Daily page where we show some little peeks on things we are working on.

  3. Just beautiful! If you don't mind me asking, was the rest of your exterior brick like your porch? If so, what color was your front door? Having a difficult time narrowing down a color scheme with our brick home. Can't wait to see what you do with your next house!

    1. Hi, Grace! The exterior of Jenni's home was entirely brick. She went with the same color on their door as we used on my old home. I believe it was called Templeton Gray (by Benjamin Moore). You can find a post with some pictures of it here: http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/jasons-new-front-door-color.html

      Hope this helps!

  5. So Jennifer - my question is, when exactly do you sleep? Actually I've always wondered that about you! :)
We purchased our first home about four months ago and it has been a huge project - every surface needs paint, everything needs a makeover. I know it will all be worth it when we're done, but I have to say that you and your blog are the single biggest point of inspiration for me that this can be done. Seeing your 'before' and 'after' pics makes my jaw drop every time. Thank you for working so hard to get all these images up for us, because let me tell you, they are so appreciated! It's so inspiring to see what you've been able to do with these spaces, and gives me hope for my own space in progress. Your blog was one of the first I ever found and I find it every bit as inspiring today as I did 5 years ago. Thank you and can't wait to see more of your new home!
